I have done it.

Deuce Update: Baby #2 is 9+ weeks along... no discernible heartbeat yet which is normal. I'm +5 pounds. Doc says everything looks fabulous and don't forget to lay off the street drugs for the duration of my pregnancy. Good to know. Next appointment is February 3rd. Trying Unisom and vitamin B6 for the evening nausea issues. Craving: cheese like it's going out of style.

I now own an article of clothing that will define me in Ry's childhood. A couple months ago, I found the coat that could last me a considerable clothing-lifetime, and after a well-executed discussion with The Boy purchased it and floated out of the store.

It's Pata-gucchi, and I'm not afraid to admit it. When I buy long-term, I don't mess around. Lisa, you understand. I've never had such a lovely coat. Dressy but warm but cute but waaaaaaaarm. My history as a tomboy and non-clothes horse have left me with a number of sporty coats, but none that combine both form and fashion. This coat... this coat is genius. I'll wear it forever. It will join the ranks of my Chacos and Danskos, both of which will celebrate 10+ years with me this Fall. This will be the coat that Ry remembers when she's 35... "Yeah, Ma... you had this long black coat you wore all winter long. Not your barn coat... a nicer one. You wore it everywhere. All the time. When I think of you, I think of that black coat."

And I'll say, "Rylie, please. Memories tend to change a bit over time. It wasn't black. It was gun metal, which is so much cooler."

What will you be remembered for?

Mom, you are Chanel No°5 and purple Birkenstocks and grading papers.
Dad, you are shoe polish, motor oil (in a good way), and ketchup on eggs.

Mom was the smell of Bread baking. I made some last night. Dad was redoing the electric system...always..

Only hope Heather remembers something good.

my dad is his Blue North Face Vest which he STILL owns and my mom had a coat like yours maroon, also North Face both down. I never even knew that until labels became "important" to me.I was astonished my parents owned North Face or that the company was that "old"

Mine will either be my pink down vest, bright blue crocs, pink chacos, or dog eaten Danskos. I cant seem to part with any of them.

Lovely coat Kate!

No doubt, I will be remembered for pink and my breast cancer advocacy. Dave no doubt, his guns.
My Dad~his dump truck, he delivered coal, saw dust, etc. My Mom, her Christmas decorating under the tree, it was huge. Hope you don't mind me adding, my maternal grandfather, peanut butter fudge and my paternal grandmother, her buns.

Wow, this post brought back some great childhood memories!!

my dad- pierre cardin cologne and fresh grass clippings and gas from the lawn mower. my mom her spaghetti sauce and always covering her whole interior of her car with sheets and papers when she picked me up from the barn so I would not get horse poop in the car. I hope BellaRose will remember me for always making a big deal on birthdays and Christmas and for photography, but I am pretty sure she will always remember my obsession with jeans that are way to expensive and my '99 honda which i am pretty sure i will have to my grave (darn car won't die!)

my dad is the sounds, smells and name-patched uniforms of a mechanics shop... oil, solvent, grease, a huge gash on his hand he just shrugs at, the air compressor, and all those other delightful things. mom is her cane and electric mobie cart, and how we always had to walk so agonizingly slow. and her bad, very bad, literal humor ;)

I wil always remember my dads forever dirt-stained-rough-dry hands. he is a welder and his hands will never by clean again. as well as for his life-long sayings like "it's always easy when you know how." I will always remember my mom whistling. And for her flannel night shirts she wore around the house (still does) over her nightgowns.

I am not sure how I'll be remembered - must work on that!

I LOVE this post. Like real genuine love, love.

Hmmm...I am yellow rubber gloves (for dish-cleaning) and black Converse. I suppose. Maybe I should ask my husband what he thinks.

K: due date is August 17.

And that's a good idea! I should ask Curt what he pictures when he thinks of me...

Oh, my dear, I do so understand. My new Rubicon Rider is heavenly. It should last my lifetime and most of someone elses given I'll wear it in Arizona twice a year!! I'm almost embarrassed to admit one of my Patagonia pullovers has turned the corner to multiple decades old.

And the Danskos? The world's most practical and comfortable shoe???? Good heavens...are you sure we're not twin sisters born a decade apart? Darn you for being the crafty one, too!!

The zoo was fun. I didn't need Patagonia of any variety. I did, however, need sunblock!

Maybe your sweet brother in pregnant...he craves cheese like it's going out of style too! As for Patagonia, Danny and I should be part owners since we have bought everything from the shelter stone to flip flops.

I always think of a burnt orange chamois shirt with my dad and a lavendar tshirt with my mom, Ellen will probably just associate me with the heavy scent of vodka...juuusst kidding, I can't wait to see what she comes up with I feel I am pretty inconsistant, I ask Jeremiah what he thinks my favorite things are all the time and he has no idea, I just change my mind alot:)

I have no idea what I will be remembered for. None. Other than my natural pallor. Josh will be remembered for his big words and boundless affection.

My mom is her tomato-red LL Bean rain jacket and carefully reserved laughter. My dad is...well...his combover. There, I said it. But he's also jeans and a sweatshirt.

My kids will remember the name Patagonia, because that is all of our coats.
Your new coat is fabulous, I love it, I have coveted it for awhile.

Congrats on the new little bean.

My mom is Obsession (Calvin Klein) and my daddy is flannel shirts that smell like pipe dope (in a good way) and breakfast for dinner. :) ME? let's see about that. I'll check with Ian & get back to you!

My girls would have no trouble nailing me down:

-sound of the espresso machine
-smell of Aveda shampoo/body soap/hairspray
-clogs (my turqoise Danskos or the black patent leather ones or the red ones)

I wish I needed fashionable reading glasses, though, because I would like to be remembered for having looked distinguished. But I am decidedly fair trade espresso and clogs.

My mom...the sound of her slippers as she walked down the hall and her ability to accessorize.
My dad...his strong hands and that he always makes shapes out of pancakes...still does.
