T'was
I love that word.
The Mulders of TexasNorth will celebrate Christmas on Christmas morning. Stockings may be dug into before the parents wake up (though Ry can't reach hers), but the rest must wait until everyone is awake. Pjs all day are perfectly acceptable if not expected. There will be ham and scalloped potatoes and green beans for an early dinner, and some college football will be watched. That's how we do it around here. Is it close to yours? The cows and chickens still have to be fed, but we will check extra hard to see if there is a Messiah in the hay manger. You just never know. If you haven't read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, you simply have to this year. It's not long, and it will have you laughing and sobbing all at the same time. It's one of my very favorite things.
However you celebrate this Season, we wish you the very very best. TexasNorth is going to take a little Christmas Vacation of its own until the New Year. I know that's dangerous in Blog World. I will lose readers who are only here for my body. But, for the rest of you, you know my heart is true. I'll be back. Don't forget me!
I have a list of things I'd like to do while I'm gone:
1. get pregnant
2. work on the new texasnorth.com website design
3. sew some new pillows
4. celebrate a birthday
5. teach Rylie to talk
6. visit some family in Pennsylvania
7. finish my sweater I've been knitting since October
8. go to a movie with The Boy
9. go to a movie with Laura
10. revamp the neglected etsy store
11. bring Peace to the Arab nations
Lofty goals, I know... but I have great faith.
We love you very much here at TexasNorth.
So very very much.
See you on the 5th!
26 people had somethin' to say:
i love your goals! thanks for sharing. i think you should try to combine goal #8 with goal #1. just an idea.
merry christmas kate!
Merry Christmas from our family to yours!!
We do almost the same. But we have to wait some till Rose arrives.
From us in Plymouth Merry Xmas to all of your family, near and far.
PS. Happy Birthday a little early.
Jim & Denise
Have a wonderful Holiday season....I hope all your goals are fulfilled....
Merry Christmas Katie!
Best of luck on your goals.
Carley
I think combining #1 and #8 might be necessary, because as I remember, your parents are staying with you and you and Curt are sleeping in the living room? (Doesn't your father read this???) I don't think you're going to get anywhere with trying to hit #1 and #9 with one stone...I hope you already knew that, but I'm just saying.
What movie? As you surely remember, I'll be having a movie theater in my front yard starting tomorrow. (PS - Moving Day has been pushed back to the 27th, but me, boy, an air mattress, a 13" TV, and some boxes are taking up residence starting tomorrow. In a snowstorm. Oy.)
Merry Chritsmas and Happy Birthday. I hope you get EVERYTHING on your Christmas list!
We will miss you very much! Have a very Happy Birthday and a wonderful New Year! We'll catch you next time from Texas!
I'm shocked and dismayed that "Send Prince Charming to Rebecca" isn't on the list. Can you wedge that in above bringing Peace to Arab nations? Thanks in advance...
Love you! Merry Merry!
oh what a nice relaxing Christmas you celebrate! Ours is a bit more chaotic - traveling to 2 homes outside our own, one of them bein in Chicago!
I'd much rather think #1 could go with #4...a celebration for procreation - close your eyes and wish with all your might! but seiously, i'll be praying for #1.
you could do #3 in preparation for #1!
hey...pennsylvania isnt far from nj depending on where you are...
we'll be down that way (and in washington dc) for the holidays. any chance we could see you?
Happy pre-birthday. It took me awhile to write b/c i was in a little bit of shock that we won't be seeing you until the 5th! what in the world. Maybe I will go on strike too. can't wait to hear about your Christmas wishes and if they all came true. I give you no advice on #1
Well your plans sound so nice and cozy! We have prez here in the AM and both sets of grandparents come and have a festive brunch.
For what its worth, Walker didn't utter a word until around two, and now we can't shut him up!
Have a wonderful holiday, and hope you come back prego :)
I have read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever in elementary school and watched the movie,
that is some list of Christmas goals, number 1 made me excited:)
I want to take you to see a movie on your birthday!! :) Can you??
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas, Katie. Peace and joy to you and the rest of the crew at TexasNorth.
L.
P.S. If you could also make sure there is enough snow for sledding when we get there, I'd appreciate it. After you're finished with the Arab Nation, that is.
I love your little red and white paper craft... did you make it? It looks sort of like a Robert Sabuda Christmas card. He's a super awesome paper engineer. :)
P.S. I am very excited about/in support of Goal #1. Well, the rest of the goals too, of course (especially 8 and 9, seeing as the movies is one of my favourite destinations of all time!), but especially that one.
Merry Christmas to you, and Curt and Ry, too!
Love how you threw that #1 in there #1, that is awesome. So exciting. Lofty goals, but you always seem to get it all done. Merry Christmas from the Singletary's.
Merry, merry Christmas. At the very top of my list of "Unexpected Joys of 2008" are: KatieKate and backyard blueberries. I look forward to hearing about how things turn out with your goal list. At least of couple of them should be fun. . . .
Yay!!!! I am so excited that you want to get pregnant again. Second babies are wonderful!!!!
I LOVE The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. I read it every year to the kids and we got to go see the actual play a couple years ago. Such a great story!
Merry Christmas!
Aw man, I forgot you were on Sabbatical...
I want to finish my sweater too! But, I'm just hoping to finish it by February. I've got too many other irons in my fire right now. I did start on a sleeve though, and I'm eyeing up buttons everywhere I go. :)
Katie I got buttons! Four of them... the nut buttons at City Knitting... a whole new shipment came in. hmmm... shall I finish my sweater first or Nathans?
Happy New Year, Mulders. Safe travels!
Lisa
Hi Katie,
I started at your beginning blog and worked my way forward. I am patiently waiting now for Jan. 5. Only four days to go! I love your blog. I read many blogs now as
I've retired and in bad health.
You and your famiy are just wonderful. You make me laugh, smile, question and cry.
I would like to be part of your blog "family" now if that's OK with you.
About Me?
Well, my Knight in Shining Armor,(KISA) and I have been married for 35 wonderful years. We have two grown, beautiful, raven-haired, brown-eyed, daughters. They have each given us 4 wonderful, exceptional, and may I add, beautiful, grandchildren. That makes 8! Oh, man are we nuts about those kids!
I don't have a blog but my daughters and several grandkids do. I suppose they will teach me to blog someday. Till then I love reading everyone elses.
See you in four days!
