I should tell you; I should tell you.
[That's from Rent. You should see it many times, if you haven't already. It will change your life.]
Curt would like for me to learn how to make Pringles. while I do have occasional bouts with fabulous-ness, I feel this is one area I cannot conquer. If you thought I was the kind of person who could make this happen, I am so sorry.
A new money jar has been put into service [back story here]. It's an old whiskey jug that I found in a fabulous primitive antique store in Lowell. It's my new favorite place. You can't get your hand down in there, which keeps Little Grabber out. AND, it has more story that the glass cube. I like things with story. You have story. I also like you.
I think we have a brand. Can I just remind y'all that you rock? You are so very much a part of this place, it's hysterical. I hope it means you will feel right at home when you visit. Or, move in. But, I digress. I usually do digress. We settled on TexasNorth Land & Cattle (no Co.). Simple. I do like both, but I like simple better. Your brand ideas in the comments and emails that followed last week were exactly what I needed to get my brain moving again. Here she is, to your right: (ignore the amoeba around it... no amoeba). See how the 'North' part goes up and to the right a bit? Yeah. I love that. We're North and to the right of The Mother Country, so it's true. I like things that are true.
The Boy shot an 8-point buck Thanksgiving morning... he's a pretty one. It's his 2nd deer ever and I think this one will be a trophy for the wall. In a very real way, it will put food on our table for the next year... and we are so very thankful for that. Whiskey jugs, Pringles, an iron brand, and an 8-point buck. That's what I got for you folks.
People! It's December!!! Holy frijoles. You have a fabulous day. Be nice and laugh lots, ok?
16 people had somethin' to say:
love the brand, kate. well done. i am so honored and yet somewhat depressed that i am the first to comment on today's post...depressed because this means it's really really really early in the morning and i am already online and in need of a nap. it seems my girls have become allergic to sleeping at night.
perhaps your next post should be on how we can all sleep train our kids to be like rylie!
Oh yeah. . .I finally got here in the top 10 comments. Let me say this about Pringles. . did you know that you can buy them in the Vatican? And in the Dominican Republic? And in Argentina? I'm telling you: every time G and I leave the country, we are amazed by the world's fascination with the Pringle. The Boy is onto something. Let me know when you get that recipe worked out.
I LOVE the brand! You are so stink'n smart! The arrow on the x...
AND YEA! for the dear!! Do you ever make venison jerky? If you do, please will you save a sliver for me? No one in my family hunts anymore; they are all fishermen. :(
Go Curt!!!!
I can confirm the globalness of Pringles. I was never much of a fan of the Pringle before our time in Korea, but sometimes I just wanted something salty, potatoey and crispy, but without the typical shrimp or seaweed flavors (really). I don't think I've had any, though, since our return to the land of Lay's.
Congratulations on the name and the brand - simple, yet says it all.
Hopefully, you'll have all this small ranch stuff worked out by the time we find our little spot of land and I can call on your expertise.
And I was in the office very early this morning and am so late seeing this, shame on me.
I do like your brand (even though I said add Co), very simple and as you say true. Now are you going to make calling cards for yourselves as well and if you are please tell your Plymouth friends how, as we now need them. Business cards are so not working.
Curt, nice job and I think it needs to hang on a wall. But....who am I to suggest...
Love the brand, and the amoeba:)
also nice Jug;)
I'm in a little bit of a weird mood can you tell
Don't even put this idea of "making Pringles" in MY Boy's head. I'd never hear the end of it. Congrats to Curty on his buck. Josh and I saw one smiling at us out of the back of a pickup truck on the highway yesterday.
Also, the brand is perfect.
You know, I have never before thought about how Pringles are made. I guess I thought they just appeared like magic. I say you don't want to mess with that magic by decoding it. :)
Love the brand! I think it's perfect. Simple, yet it speaks volumes.
I'm taking comfort that you are keeping my room open. I might need it soon. ;)
worth is only slightly jealous of curt's deer and maybe will be just a little more if he killed it on the back 40. you are so good.
Nice deer and the brand looks great. You are so creative.
Yay for Rent - nice use of the lyrics, there. :)
Also, I think it's hilarious that your logo references the symbol of 'man'... Curt should be excited.
Rent...London...summer of '99. I'm so glad I saw it for the first time with you! And didn't we have fabulous seats! Keith and I went again last year when it came to Fort Worth. We are BIG fans of Rent...and you!
I don't know what's in Pringles, but I'm pretty sure it's not potato, so don't bother using any in your recipe. For the record, if you DO learn to make Pringles, my husband would like to put in an order for a case...or twelve!
As for the deer, (my) KatieKate wondered, "Why is that man sitting down talking to that deer?" :-)
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Lisa
love the brand! (and seeing a glimpse of the thought process) it's perfect!
I like the brand too.
Congrats on the buck Curt!!
